I work for the Title I-Migrant Education Program. I work with tutors and recruiters across the state to ensure compliance with the identification & recruitment requirements for our program. I also compile the Migrant data for the Arkansas CSPR. I want educators in Arkansas to know that any student could potentially be a migrant student. Migrant students aren't always immigrants but they could be. Students may qualify for our program if they have moved across state or school district boundaries and they, or a parent/guardian have engaged in temporary or seasonal work in agriculture or fishing anytime in the past 3 years (even if it was for a short time or over the summer). The worker does not have to be currently doing this type of work. Having each student in your district complete the "Employment Survey" in their annual or new student enrollment packet is critical to being able to help us identify all students who may potentially qualify.
